Poem #3 - Friendship

Peanut butter and jam,
cheese and crackers,
popcorn and butter,
bear and berries,
apples and peanut butter,
speghetti and meatballs,
you and me.

Side by side we stand,
through thick and thin,
we fight and we laugh,
we cry and we smile,
we jump and we catch eachother.

We are there for eachother,
no matter what,
we are best friends, till the end...

Poem #2 - Pain

The feeling you get,
when tears flood down your cheeks.
When your heart throbs and
your eyes puff up from crying..
When your lost without direction,
when no one guides your way,
you feel it...

It's not pleasant, it pulls you out of this world,
for a minute, a second, an instant, just enough so you feel it,
You feel it breakthrough your wall,
your heart, your life..
There's nothing you can do,
but just hurt & break,
and that's when you know you feel pain...

Poem #1 - Taking Baby Steps..

I'm just going to take these steps,
one by one
left then right.
Look before I step,
but hope to find something.
Maybe something dangerous,
maybe something happy or sad,
just something...

Because every new beginning,
comes from another end.
I wish I knew where I'm going,
or how to get there, but
maybe that is part of the fun...

You only live once, no map
no direction where to go..
But I'm going to make the best of this adventure,
smile and keep walking,
one step at a time..

What I would do with 100 billion dollars...

If you were to give me 100 billion dollars, after donating a good chunk to several hospitals, foodbanks, and charities, I'd use it to end world hunger and poverty. I would buy out companies like shoppers drugmart, the brick, and grocery stores. Then I would go to countries with a high poverty rate and donate a lot of medications, food, and furnature. I would help them start over, fresh water, close food resources, and good living conditions. And giving them these kinds of resources would also give many of them a job to help give them careers.

Then I would buy out companies like Rona & Home Depot and hire some construction companies to build houses wherever homeless people are. I would travel the world and get every homeless person off the streets, into a house and fed. If they are an addict I will put them in a rehab center and try my best to make them clean again.

I would then go to all the hospitals I could find, I would go and pay for cancer treatments and killing diseases, then I would take every child that has a killing disease and I would make there day. I would buy them toys, take them to see their role model, go to the CN tower, etc. whatever they would want.

I would set about 1 billion dollars away for my future children and their families. Then and only then would I travel the world and live my dreams. I'd travel the world, as many places as I could go. I'd go bungee jumping, skydiving, and ziplining. I would buy an amusement and let it be free to random people, on random days just to bring a smile to their face.

And with any remaining money, I would just use it to make peoples' days. By maybe buying the person behind me's order, or taking a little girl skating, or buying a bigger bike for a boy, etc.

I would do something along these lines, on random days..

Why I don't like poetry...

In the past, I have not enjoyed poetry because the teachers I have had in the past have not taught me why I'm doing it. I don't like poetry that ryhmes because it doesn't feel like its real thought,it just feels like they are trying to ryhme. I really enjoy poetry that doesn't ryhme or tells a story or even paint a picture. I love to write poetry as long as it doesn't have to ryhme. I usually do well in writing my poetry, but when we critque it I don't really understand because I usually look at the poem in a different way than everyone else.

For this poem section, I think I will enjoy it if you explain to me how it works and you let us write our own poetry :)

Camp Huronda

You shall write a creative paragraph about a place you have been that creates an evocative memory.

The wind in your hair, the smell of the trees, the sound of children everywhere. You look around and just stop in the moment, this is where I want to be. The sound of the triangle bringing everyone in line, waiting to give our needle before supper, when the director calls us in by our ages, the creeking of those old steps, up past the doors into the dining hall for supper. We say our pray, singing, clapping all together, and we sit, and eat. After there's an activity, fun, exciting, you can hear a pin drop, no one wants to miss the details of the game. And we know when we here meet at the flag pole at 7:15, it's time for free time... You run across the camp, to trip hut. And build a fire, big, warm. You leave with the smell of fresh campfire, all over your clothes. Camp is love. It's the sunset on Lake Waseosa. The running all over camp. The splash of the water, when you leap into the calm, still, lake. The crackle of the fire, on opening night. The sound of your paddle dipping into the lake. The sound of the drum, coming down the cabin path on Native Day. The creeking on the wooden floor, for wake up. It's the smiles that bring us together and the tears that fill our eyes when we part. It's the clicking of the pricker, the crunch of the mulch beneath your feet. It's where you go to feel complete.

The Leap

Looks for examples of CONTRAST in the story. Find three good ones. (things and their opposites put close together)

First-person POV adds  to the story. What does it add to The Leap?

1. The blind, old lady vs. the young daredevil trapeze artist
2. The blind, old, weak lady, in the hospital vs. the young, talented hero
3. The adorable, romantic, couple kissing in the act vs. the young, lady herself and not her husband

First-person POV, adds to The Leap by making us feel like we're there, like she is talking to us, telling us about her mother. You really get to feel the narrator's feeling through it, and relate about what she is talking to us about. How she really feels that she owes her mother for her existance. And how she feels like even that is not enough.

I enjoy first-person POV books/stories, because I feel that I have a better understanding of the character :)

Who Am I?

Tasha Ban

As a student, my strengths are listening, communicating, & spelling (for the most part). My weaknesses are grammar, essay writing, summarizing, and writing long notes. I hope to get at least an 80% in this class. In previous years I got between 75% - 80% but this year I hope to do better and increase my marks. In my previous english class' I liked reading short stories & learning more about grammar. I disliked essays, reading a whole book in a short period of time, summarizing, and writing long notes.

As a person, I spend my time outside of school hanging out with friends, babysitting, rehearsing for the play I'm in, and working. I work at the salad bar at Zehrs. Down the road, I have no idea what I'd like to do... There is so many options to choose from, I don't want to make the wrong one. I'm a type one diabetic, on insulin injections. I have been a diabetic seen I was 8 years old. I love being active and playing lots of sports. I also love to act !

As a composite, I like music alot! I love country, rock, & hiphop the most. I don't really enjoy rap or techno, but there can be the ocassional one that I like. I love Blake Shelton, Jason Derulo, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, & Nicki Manaj. I like to read but I am a very picky reader. Some books I have enjoyed reading are The Twilight Series, The Host, Thirteen Reasons Why, and The Hunger Games. But my favourite things to read about all non-fiction, especially facts! I enjoy television too. My favourite TV shows are Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Dexter, & Criminal Minds. I enjoy watching lots of crime shows !

And that pretty much somes me up ! :)
